An XML diff that formats first

Compare XML and SVG online with syntax formatting and attribute sorting. Side-by-side highlighting entirely in your browser.

Minified XML next to an indented copy is almost all difference if you compare characters. This XML diff checker indents both sides the same way, optionally sorts attributes on each tag, then runs the same Myers highlight as the text tool.

It is not schema-aware and it does not canonicalize namespaces. Extra whitespace inside text nodes still counts unless Ignore whitespace is on.

Use JSON Diff for JSON and Text Diff for everything else.

Frequently asked questions

Does XML Diff sort attributes?

Yes, by default. Attributes on each tag are sorted alphabetically before comparison, so <div b="2" a="1"> matches <div a="1" b="2">.

What happens if the XML is malformed?

The pane shows the XML parser error and diff will not run until the error is corrected.

Can I compare SVG files with XML Diff?

Yes, SVG is standard XML and works seamlessly with attribute sorting and formatting.

Is my XML uploaded to any server?

No, all XML formatting and comparison executes strictly inside your browser.
